A Few of the Local Activities
| Costa
Rica is a wonderland for those who love nature, adventure and the
outdoors. Playas del Coco is centrally located to all the important
tourist developments, parks and reserves in and around Guanacaste, giving
you unencumbered access to a full range of outdoor leisure fun. From the
area, you can easily hike through a misty cloud forest, zip along the
treetop on a canopy tour or mountain bike through dense, lowland forest.
You can encounter the underwater majesty of a manta ray, fish for
record-breaking marlin or glide through the Pacific on a sailboat. You can
even take in a few rounds of golf or just soak in the sunshine on a
deserted beach. This is just a sample of what you can do and see in the
area: |
| Visit
the Rincon de la Vieja National Park by horseback from the Hacienda
Guachipelin. You will hike through the park and encounter beautiful
waterfalls, boiling lagoons, thermal hot springs and luxurious vegetation.
On your return to the Hacienda do not miss the exciting Kazam Canopy
Tour. Securely harnessed and with professional experienced
guides you will soar through the canyon from platform to platform, climb 3
walls and for the adventurous a Tarzan Swing. |

 |
Santa Rosa National Park is great for hiking. It is the largest
dry forest in Costa Rica where you will find birds and mammals of all
sizes. The nesting of the great leatherback turtle arriving at the
beach Nanciti during the months of October and November is an incredible
sight to witness. |

Golfing: The Papagayo Gulf and
Country Club is located in Libertad, about six miles from Playas del Coco.
It boasts an 18-hole golf course, a practice green, a driving range, and a
club-house The course fee's are very reasonable and the course is more
available than the other three golf courses in the area. "We didn’t
build this to be a PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association) course, it’s
built for the average guy,” says Dave Reynolds. But don't let that fool
you, it's still a challenging course. |

Scuba Diving: The Papagayo Gulf offers premium diving. Its
plankton-rich waters draw in an immense diversity of aquatic life in all
shapes, colors and sizes. At local dive sites, huge schools of grunts,
damsels, scorpion fish, triggerfish and more make their home within local
dive sites as do frogfish, octopus, white tip sharks and several varieties
of moray eels and rays. At the Catalinas or Bat Islands, mantas, huge
schools of cow-nose or devil rays and bull sharks are the things to see.

|
Deep Sea and Local Fishing: Costa Rica and the Papagayo Gulf are
world-renowned for game fishing. From Playas del Coco, a hub for the
sport, and other nearby beaches, a wide variety of charter boat operators
are available to take sport fishermen out in search of record-breaking
marlin, sailfish or rooster fish. The gulf also offers excellent
opportunities for catching dorado, wahoo, cubera, snapper, grouper, tuna
and more. |

Sailing, Snorkeling and Sunset Cruises: Sail the Bay and wait for the
Dolphins to arrive around the boat jumping and frolicking. You will
anchor at some of the most pristine beaches where you can enjoy snorkeling
or strolling the beach in search of shells. A wonderful lunch is
included along with all beverages. Or enjoy the sunset cruise where
you will see the most spectacular sunsets in the world. |
